Brief Introduction
Northeastern University has long attached great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education. Fostering innovation awareness, cultivating creativity, forging entrepreneurship, creating innovative talents, all these have become a high degree of consensus of university’s innovation and entrepreneurship education. Adhering to this concept and objective, taking long-term vision to plan for development, coordinating development with global consciousness, the innovation and entrepreneurship education at Northeastern University has been at the forefront of the country.
As the main carrier to carry out innovation and entrepreneurship education, the Northeastern University Innovation and Entrepreneurship School always adheres to the work purpose of serving for school development, serving for student cultivation, adhering to the education philosophy of happy learning in science activities, learning by doing in scientific training, learning through competition in science and technology competition, learning in training in startup practices. Relying on mutually-fused Innovative Education Curriculum System and Innovative Educational Practice System, safeguarded by thorough organizational system and supervision-feedback system, carried by complete innovation practice squad, entrepreneurial pioneer class and innovation entrepreneurship team, the school can provide each student an overall-process, comprehensive, interactive, experiential platform that can realize the incubation and transformation of innovation and entrepreneurship education, training and results. During specific educational process, the school focuses on the integration of theory teaching and practical education, innovation and entrepreneurship education, professional education and innovation and entrepreneurship culture and campus culture, sticking to the integration of scientific management, the integration of teaching content, the integration of teaching staff, the integration of base construction, and the integration of financial support. Through multi-level innovation and entrepreneurship practice, multi-channel innovation and entrepreneurship fund, multi-faceted innovation and entrepreneurship base and multi-form of introducing off-campus mentors, strengthen educational effect of five platforms, namely theoretical teaching, science activities, research and training, science and technology competition, entrepreneurial activities, thus build a specialized innovation and entrepreneurship education ecosystem featured the integration of “Creative Training, Innovation Practice and Entrepreneurship Education and Incubation”.
Till now, the school has four departments, namely Science Department, Project Department, Competition Department, Department of Entrepreneurship. The school owns a building, covering a total area of 6300 square meters, and it is the innovation base for students, and provides students a platform and various resources for their independent development and innovative learning, exploratory practice, interactive communication and experiential entrepreneurial activities. After years of exploration, Northeastern University has made remarkable achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship education, and has a greater impact at home and abroad. The school has successively conducted 2 Provincial Education Reform Projects, won 2 Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards, 3 School Teaching Achievement Awards, and published 5 student innovation and entrepreneurship books. Students won 2287 awards in international and national science and technology competitions. The school published more than 700 articles, and 120 of them were included SCI, EI retrieval system; gained 353 national patents; completed hundreds of scientific and technological achievements, and successfully established 25 student enterprises. In 2007, the school became one of the first universities to implement National College Students Innovation Experiment Program. By the end of 2012, the shcool became one of the country’s first batch of 40 pilot universities that were approved to conduct creation and dissemination of science. In 2013, the school was awarded the the Eighth Batch of The Provincial Science and Technology Popularization Base in Liaoning Province by Liaoning Provincial Science and Technology Association. In 2014, the school was awarded the 2014 Liaoning Province College Students Practice Education Base by Liaoning Provincial Department of Education. In 2015, the school was awarded the the First Batch of National College Practice Education and Innovation Base by the Ministry of Education.
